A School for Fairy Tales is the first episode of the first season of Regal Academy.

Synopsis[]

Rose falls into Fairy Tale Land and begins her adventure at her new school, Regal Academy.[1]

Plot[]

Gigi is holding a key while  traveling through a city. He climbs up a building before it ziplines down a telephone line, where it falls and crashes into an apartment window.

Inside, Rose is preparing for her first day of high school. As she is putting her school supplies into her backpack, her mother reminds her that she is preparing for school and not a fairy tale. She further explains that high school is about home room and cardboard-flavored cafeteria pizza.

Rose exits her house and as she is walking to school, she comes across her favorite shoe store, which she needs to walk past in order to make it to school on time, However, it is having a sale and thus, she cannot resist her attraction to the sale. A magnetic force pulls her into the store and forces her to enter.

As Rose is trying on shoes, Gigi enters one of the pairs and startles her. He drops the key and lands on the floor. This also causes Rose to realize that she is going to be late. She picks up the key and holds onto it.

When she leaves the building, she bumps into Travis as he is running. She realizes that he has a key similar to the one she found and attempts to return it to him. She chases after him into a nearby alleyway, but then she finds out that the key is magical when he inserts his into the alleyway wall and enters the door that spontaneously appears.

She tries to enter the door herself, but the door is too small for her to enter. When she charges into the door, she falls into the world below. A dragon catches her and tells her that she is late. Afterwards, he drops her off at the entrance ceremony.

Headmistress Cinderella recognizes her by looking at the key that the mouse gave her. She welcomes her to Regal Academy and addresses her as Rose Cinderella. Afterwards, she begs Professor Snow White to enroll her in Regal Academy.

After the entrance ceremony, the students go to the assignment ceremony, where they are assigned to different teams. Astoria is the first student to be called up, and the next student is Joy. Astoria asks her if she did okay on the entrance exam, to which Joy asks, "What's an entrance exam?"

In the meantime, Rose is bored and runs up to Pinocchia to annoy her, by putting her finger on her nose and asking her to tell a lie. She replies by stating she never tells lies, but her nose grows and indicates that she just lied.

Travis Beast is assigned to Astoria's team, and he wonders why he is stuck on the nerd girl team, to which Astoria's hair knocks down a sculpture on him. The fourth person assigned to their team is Hawk. And finally, Rose is assigned to their team. This upsets Astoria, to the point where she faints.

Their first assignment is to find five stamps, but the last one is the most difficult to find. It is on the chandelier of the ballroom. When Astoria attempts to retrieve it, Rose turns the chandelier lights on, causing her to fall to the ground. Astoria is angry at Rose, not just for turning the lights on, but also because she could catch herself.

Rose explains that she was just trying to help. Astoria forgives her, but explains that she has no powers. In response, Astoria uses her ivy hair to lift Rose up to the chandelier to obtain the stamp, but Vicky causes a spill and Rose slips off. As a result, Vicky obtains the stamp before Astoria and her team does. She also gleefully mocks Astoria as she and her team leaves.

When they return to Professor Snow White, she explains that nobody has taken so long to retrieve all five stamps. For the assignment, Hawk, Joy, and Astoria receive a 5. Travis receives a 4 and Rose receives a 0. Despite her failing grade, Rose remains optimistic, which initially upsets Astoria. However, Astoria realizes that anything can happen. Then, she declares that they will be the best team at Regal Academy.

After this, Headmistress Cinderella takes Rose back to her castle to prove that she is a Cinderella. She has been watching over Rose for her entire life, as indicated by the portraits of baby Rose.

After the revelation, she gives Rose a wand, which will allow her to harness pumpkin magic. Before she enters the portal to return home, she plays around with her wand, much to the annoyance of other people.

The episode ends with Rose returning home and lying to her mother about what happened at school. She enters her room and she is excited to start her second day at Regal Academy.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode of Regal Academy.
    • It is similar to the first episode of Winx Club. In both episodes, the protagonist stumbles into a magical world before being enrolled in a magical school. In Rose's case, it is Regal Academy. In Bloom's case, it is Alfea College.
  • Leena has a different design in this episode. She has red hair tied into two buns rather than the straight blue hair she has for all future episodes. Either this is an error or this is her prototype design.
  • During the assignment ceremony, there is a duck girl standing next to Vicky and Ruby. This may have hinted that she would have been on her team.

Mistakes[]

  • Rose's pink headband disappears when she was riding the green Dragon.

Quotes[]

"I never tell lies! Never!" - Pinocchia, explaining to Rose that she never lies, despite lying at that very moment

"An apple in danger!" — Hawk SnowWhite

"Anything can happen." - Astoria, realizing that there is a chance that she and her team can become the best at Regal Academy, even after discovering Rose's poor performance on their first assignment
